Sweet December Rain - NEW SINGLE
"I'm into picking up artists and running with them, especially one's with fantastic voices - this track is gonna blow your mind!"
- Dom Vozzo, Alive 90.5 FM
Longing for rain is in the Aussie DNA and the heat and exhaustion drip from Tansy’s naked vocals like sweat on a cold beer. The lyric – heat, dust, fire – tell the story, evoking iconic Aussie summers and memories of the horrific fire season of 2019/2020.
Written by song writing duo Tansy Mayhew & Nick Munro in support of the survivors of the Australian Bushfires 2019/2020, ‘Sweet December Rain’ is pure Aussie soul.
‘So many animals’ and people’s lives are still devastated. We really want to do something to help.” says Tansy.
Featured on ABC’s Radio National, and 4 Corners for her powerful vocals as well as her moving story of life as a carer of a child with significant disability, Tansy has come back to music with a fighting spirit after mourning the passing of her daughter, and is determined to honour her baby’s joyful life through celebrating the absolute essence of life with passion and with song. She’s found her sound: Soul Rnb Funk with a remix market in the deep house sector. She sings songs for the feelings your heart has journeyed through, weaving melodies into stories that echo your own truths.
Tansy’s new album L.O.V.E Love is deeply honest, full of sass, goosebumps and yes, love.
“It just feels so right that ‘Sweet December Rain’ is the first single off this album, because it’s about love. About helping each other. We really need to spread that about with a shovel at the moment.” says Tansy
Tansy's first EP 'Freedom' is a smooth mix of acoustic soul/funk with a neosoul influence. 'Freedom' features complex harmonies, big top notes and quirky, sexy, tongue in cheek lyrics. From the electronica of the title track to the slow fat vocal beds on 'Everytime', this is an ep for lovers and dreamers. In 'You're Beautiful', Tansy cites a longing for someone 'as comfortable as my old brown shoes.'
'Worth Living', 'Alright' and '5mile' are affirmations that remind us to keep going, keep dancing, never give up on yourself. 'Freedom' the album is a message of hope, of emancipation and the indomitable human spirit set to an enjoyable groove.

WHAT IS TANSY UP TO NOW?
Currently Tansy is in the studio finishing L.O.V.E. Love for slow release over 2021/22.
"I am so loving this! So much fun working with Nick Munro a.k.a 'Mr Moon'- he's insanely, out of this world, off the planet creative. Ideas stream out his butt like fireworks. Wild. I love it. Lucky for me, there doesn't seem to be much he can't turn his hand to in the studio and he's pretty magic on anything with strings.
"Of course, I was lucky with my first EP 'Freedom' too. Working with amazing musicians like Kevin Mendoza, Will Brown, Angus Steventon, Martin Serra and Michael Matamua who really listened to each other and worked as a team. We went largely acoustic and I just fell in love with that vibe.
"But this time I'm keen to throw the net a little wider. Explore an organic fusion of acoustic, synth, hip hop beats and soul. Maybe a wee foray into blues. Love me some blues! I get schooled every damn time I sing 'em!
"But right now I'm so proud of 'Sweet December Rain'. I get goosebumps every time I get to the breakdown and hear the rain coming
"And you know whats so exciting? I feel like my voice has finally grown up and I know it, and it knows me. We're friends for probably the first time ever and I can't wait to see what falls out." says Tansy
